I love this book of beautiful men and thoughts. Grahame's photos celebrate the rapture of being in a male body. I get such pleasure "reading" it. The eyes are treated to rich juxtapositions of photographic images while the spirit is treated to simple, profound words that accompany them. The shame that men live with about their bodies, (This is not only a womans issue.) is addressed directly and honestly. Nude figures of a variety of physiques from elder to youth are presented, inviting one into contemplating the male body as "wonderfully made." as Psalm 139 puts it. It is beautiful, archetypally and spiritually expressive. The male body is Gods handiwork waking up to its own splendor, one that originated in the stars. The time has come for welcoming male sexuality, and indeed the male spirit out of the exile of shame, trivializing pornography and beefcake display. The time has come for us to come out of a collective dark night of the soul and enter together a bright night of the spirit as Peter states under one of his images, a man sitting within a vast skyscape of stars, holding a star in his hand as it illuminates his face. This book ushers in this long overdue time.
